Our advocacy service provides friendly, practical support to help people understand their options, access the help they may be entitled to and make informed decisions.

How we can help

Our experienced team can provide information, guidance and practical support with a wide range of issues, including:

• Attendance Allowance, Pension Credit, PIP and other benefits
• Blue Badge applications
• Housing and financial difficulties
• Debt and budgeting concerns
• Health and social care
• Accessing equipment and support to remain independent at home
• Priority Services Register applications
• Completing forms and making telephone calls
• Finding and accessing other local services

Sometimes people come to us with one particular problem and, through talking things through, we identify other support that could make life a little easier too.

Who is advocacy for?

Our service is primarily for people aged 65 and over living in Gosport and Lee-on-the-Solent who need some additional help to navigate services, understand their options or deal with a particular issue.

You don't need to know exactly what help you need before contacting us. If you're unsure where to start, we can talk through what's happening and see whether we can help.

How does it work?

Once we receive a referral, a member of our team will get in touch to find out more about your circumstances.

Depending on what you need, support may be provided over the telephone, at one of our community locations or through a home visit where appropriate.

Our role is to listen, explain your options and help you take the next steps. We won't make decisions for you – we'll support you to make the choices that are right for you.

Where something falls outside our expertise, we'll do our best to connect you with an organisation that can provide the right support.
